"Shatter my heart so a new room can be made for a limitless love" -- Jalaluddin Rumi
I am a New York state licensed clinical social worker with 17 years of direct, therapeutic experience. My experience, specialties and on-going training focus on clinical work with individuals who are:
experiencing disruptive anxiety or excessive sadness
having a difficult postpartum experience and/or in parenthood
struggling with past or present trauma (including sexual abuse, birth trauma, domestic violence, survival of war & natural disasters)
overwhelmed by a transition, break up, identity search
having difficulties in intimate relationships (partnerships/families)
craving meaningful support regarding chronic health symptoms
feeling generally disempowered
My approach is warm, honest and tends to be humanistic and relational in nature. I draw from internal family systems, “inner child” and “shadow work” paradigms, cognitive behavioral techniques, somatic experiencing and other mind+body methods (including the “TMS” work of Dr. John Sarno, as it has evolved over time), polyvagal theory, in addition to other practices and philosophies when relevant. At times, my style can be creative, experiential and include humor for therapeutic benefit. It is the positive engagement and momentum that I hope to witness and facilitate, helping to release the patterns that have kept you feeling "stuck" on a trajectory that reveals itself as therapy begins to work.
I am in this process with you, and I have deep reverence for your trauma, for your humanness, and for the courage it takes for you to show up.
